How can we protect the rights of workers who are subject to algorithmic management? Join us to discuss the possibilities and limits of data protection law, collective bargaining and litigation strategies used by platform workers, and more.

Algorithmic management can change power dynamics at work by harming the privacy of workers, deepening information asymmetries and eroding human agency. So how can we protect the rights of workers who are subject to these systems?

In this panel, we will explore if European data protection laws sufficiently protect employees and what challenges authorities face in enforcing them. We will also cover how platform workers have resisted algorithmic management by exploring collective bargaining and litigation strategies, and what this means for employees in other sectors. Finally, we will invite the audience to discuss solutions to close these protection gaps, from improving GDPR enforcement or strengthening collective bargaining, to new laws to improve workers digital rights.
